Learn the fundamentals of drawing, and bring your art to life! Canadian artist and naturalist, Robert Bateman, famous for his realistic art, likes to say his “art is not that realistic and that he does not paint every single strand of fur or each feather, instead he likes to paint the air in between the hair, fur, or feather”.The fundamentals and artistic principles are the building blocks to making your art feel alive and vibrant.
This 4-week Junior NatureSketch Online course is taught by Val Lawton who guides us through art fundamentals such as line drawing, understanding shapes and shading techniques, with a fresh and fun approach that will encourage budding artists to create beautiful nature sketches.
In this course you will be able to sketch 4 different animals, 1 each week, and will develop the skills to draw many more! You will learn the basics of value, texture, light, and shadow, understand that everything is made of basic shapes, and learn some basics of nature journaling and new understandings of some animals and plants.
At the end of the program students are encouraged to submit their art to be put up in the NatureSketch Gallery.
Instructor will email students with finalised details a few days prior to the beginning of the class.
All online classes can be watched later if you cannot make the times listed! Instructors are also available by email for individual critiques or questions outside of class time.
