This 4-week Junior NatureSketch Online: Trees, Leaves, and Critters course is taught by artist and children’s book illustrator Val Lawton, and artist and educator Carey-Lynn Link who guides us through art fundamentals such as line drawing, understanding shapes and shading techniques, with a fresh and fun approach that will encourage budding artists to create beautiful nature sketches. Using eco-literacy principles from world-renowned artist and naturalist, Robert Bateman, we encourage participants to connect to nature through art and observation.
By the end of this course you will be able to sketch trees, the parts that make up a tree, and some of the wildlife that lives among trees! Draw what you see and observe, understand the basics of value, texture, light, and shadow, understand that everything is made of basic shapes, and learn some basics of nature journaling and new understandings of some animals and plants.
At the end of the program students have the opportunity to submit their art to be put up in the NatureSketch Gallery.
Instructor will email students with finalised details a few days prior to the beginning of the class.
All classes can be watched later if you cannot make the times listed! Instructors are also available by email for individual critiques or questions outside of class time.
