Nature can appear chaotic to the regular eye, and even to trained eyes the patterns of nature can be complex and hard to follow. This month we observe a simple but happy pattern in nature: animals pairing up. Whether for friendship, love, bonding, or  mutually beneficial relationships, there are many critters that love to form pairs! NatureSketch encourages students to build and deepen their connections with the natural world, in this case connect with this very relatable pattern found in nature.

This 4-week NatureSketch Online course is taught by Val Lawton, who teaches art fundamentals such as line drawing, understanding shapes and shading techniques, with a fresh and fun approach that will encourage budding artists to create beautiful nature sketches. Using eco-literacy principles from world-renowned artist and naturalist, Robert Bateman, we encourage participants to connect to nature through art and observation

In this class we will learn about, discuss, and learn to draw four “Perfect Pairs” found in Nature, and students will have made 4 drawings and gained the knowledge to make many more!

At the end of the program students have the opportunity to submit their art to be put up in the NatureSketch Gallery.

Instructor will email students with finalised details a few days prior to the beginning of the class.

All online classes can be watched later if you cannot make the times listed! Instructors are also available by email for individual critiques or questions outside of class time.
